KALYNA'S
SONG
"Coteau Books is most grateful for the assistance
we received from the Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of
Taras Shevchenko in support of our novel Kalyna's Song
by the first-time author Lisa Grekul. We were able to
successfully publish and launch the novel, to a great
deal of acclaim. What was particularly useful about
the Foundation's support was that, as planned, it allowed
us to do extended touring with the author -- to Edmonton,
Calgary and Winnipeg most recently. We were able to
do this additional promotion right at the time when
it was announced that Kalyna's Song is a finalist for
the Books in Canada/Amazon First Novel Award.
Once again, thank you for your ongoing support of Coteau
Books publications. We look forward to sharing further
successes with you in the future."

conjunction with The Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of
Taras Shevchenko to provide an avenue for present and
future generations to appreciate and celebrate Ukrainian
culture and heritage."

SWAN
VALLEY REGIONAL SECONDARY SCHOOL
"On behalf of our students and Mr. Ross I would
like to thank the Shevchenko Foundation very much for
supporting our students on their trip to Ukraine in
March. It was a most rewarding experience for the students.
They will no doubt remember the many friends they have
made for a lifetime. They found it exciting to be able
to help the students work on their business plans and
technology skills. They also had an excellent introduction
to Ukrainian culture."

"Cossacks Beyond the Rapids tells the story of
the Cossacks of Ukraine, the Zaporozhtsi, from the time
of their founding in the fifteenth century to their

present day." |

MARIA
DUNN
"The song 'In the Shadow of the Rockies' reflects
the experience of prisoners at the Castle Mountain internment
camp in Banff National Park during WWI. The title of
the song was inspired by the book: Kordan. B.S. and
Melnycky P. "In the Shadow of the Rockies: Diary
of the Castle Mountain Internment Camp 1915-1917.
With the grant provided by the Ukrainian Canadian Foundation
of Taras Shevchenko, a CD mastering and manufacturing
of a single version of the song has occurred, and will
be available to educate Canadians regarding the internment." |

MARSHA
SKRYPUCH
"'Silver Threads', the first children's book ever
written on the internment of Ukrainians during WWI,
has been out of print since 1998. With the grant from
the Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko
my publisher was able to re-publish and re-design it
into a full size picture book. because of this grant,
'Silver Threads' will be available in hardcover and
paperback, and be released in Canada and the United
States, something that did not happen with the original
edition.
I would like to thank the Ukrainian Canadian Foundation
of Taras Shevchenko from the bottom of my heart for
bringing 'Silver Threads' back to life." |
MOHYLA
INSTITUTE
"The Shevchenko Foundation supports Mohyla Institute's
Summer School Program every day. This flagship program
of the Institute teacher young people in grades 9 through
12 about Ukrainian language, history and culture. Without
the support of organizations like the Shevchenko Foundation,
this program would not be able to provide the high caliber
of instruction required." |

IRINA CHUCHKO
"My Grad-Exhibition as Simon Fraser University
turned out to be a big success. During the 3-week run,
we had over 1,000 viewers who came to see the Exhibition.
A lot of my work focused on cultural identity, and I
am actively promoting Ukrainian culture and traditions.
It was a great pleasure to feature the Shevchenko Foundation
as on of the Exhibition supporters.
I am extremely thankful and grateful for your support."

Catholic Church
"The Basilian Fathers
and parishioners at St. Nicholas Church sincerely thank
the Shevchenko Foundation for providing financial assistance
in support of the church history publication. The research
and writing of the text is based on information gleaned
from authentic parish records, church publications and
from interviews with parishioners. The book includes
hundreds of historical photographs and describes the
work of the pioneer missionary Basilian Fathers in Winnipeg
and the surrounding areas highlighting the growth and
development of the various organizations with the parish.
Even the bells have a story to tell as do the stained-glass

"The exhibit 'Not to Be Forgotten' has been displayed
in cities across Canada, in Churches, community centres,
youth centres and schools. The exhibit has enable Canadians
of Ukrainian heritage and those that are not, to look
back into history with conviction that Canada must never
ignore the lessons of the past, and support Ukraine's
desire to consolidate its independence. We believe this
long-term project will eventually be a great success.
Thank you to the Shevchenko Foundation for supporting
this project."
