Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko presents
Kobzar Writer’s Scholarship and Janice Kulyk Keefer
at the Humber School for Writers in Toronto July 12–18, 2008
The Shevchenko Foundation offers the KOBZAR Writer’s Scholarship at the Humber School for Writers. The Kobzar Scholarship is awarded annually to a Canadian writer with an advanced manuscript on a Ukrainian Canadian theme. This full tuition scholarship is intended to assist the writer to complete his/her work for publication. The theme can be presented in one of several categories: poetry, young readers’ fiction, fiction, plays or non fiction.
- Application deadline is June 10, 2008 for consideration for scholarship.
- For details, please visit Humber at creativeandperformingarts.humber.ca/writers
- or contact Hilary Higgins at hilary.higgins@humber.ca
- or contact Christine Turkewych at kobzarliteraryaward@yahoo.ca
To apply for the Kobzar Writer’s Scholarship, please state prominently your intent in the cover letter of your application. Because competition for scholarships is high, applicants must provide a statement explaining their financial situation, some proof of need, and a credit card number. Please include two identical copies (no more than 15 pages each) of an excerpt from your work of non-fiction, fiction, poetry or play for assessment. Please ensure that pages are numbered, double-spaced in 12-point font, and that your name appears on each page. Include two copies of a cover letter that tells a little about yourself and your writing.
