KYIV PAVILION RECEIVES UCFTS SUPPORT

August 4, 2002

Winnipeg, Manitoba – The Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko (UCFTS) today announced grant funding in the amount of $2,500 towards the Kyiv Pavilion, part of Winnipeg’s Folkorama being held from August 4-17, 2002.

For over 30 years the people of Winnipeg have gathered together in August to celebrate the ethnic diversity which makes up this vibrant community. This two-weeks of fun and excitement showcases the multicultural richness of the community in the areas of culture, dance, music, food and art. Over 40 pavilions are established for this yearly event.

Since the inception of this festival of nations, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Manitoba Provincial Council, has been a leading player. The Kyiv Pavilion brings together all aspects of the community to showcase the talent which lies within the Ukrainian community in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Canada. The highlight of each Folklorama, the Pavilion’s dedicated team of volunteers ensures that each guest receives a warm welcome and traditional Ukrainian hospitality.

“The UCFTS is pleased to support community ventures such as Kyiv Pavilion,” said UCFTS President Andrew Hladyshevsky, Q.C. “These types of opportunities, based upon active community support, showcase the rich multicultural fabric of Canada and why we are the best country to live, work and raise a family.”
